China Reports 1,113 Deaths from Novel Coronavirus to Date (Update)
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Sun-mi] In China, 44,653 people have been confirmed infected with the novel coronavirus, and 1,113 have died so far.
On the 12th, the National Health Commission of China (NHC) announced that as of midnight, 2,015 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus were reported across China. Among the new cases, 1,638 were from Hubei Province, the epicenter of the outbreak.
In one day, 97 people lost their lives. Of these, 94 deaths occurred in Hubei Province, and additional deaths were reported in Henan Province (1), Hunan Province (1), and Chongqing City (1).
The total number of confirmed cases across China has reached 44,653. Among them, 4,740 patients have recovered and been discharged, and 1,113 have died. Currently, 38,800 confirmed patients are receiving treatment in hospitals.
Among the patients under treatment, 8,204 are classified as severe cases, indicating that the death toll is expected to continue rising. There are currently 16,067 suspected cases, and 451,462 close contacts have been identified. Of these close contacts, 185,037 are under medical observation.
