[Lee Isul, Entertainment Reporter]
Actress Ra Mi-ran said that working in comedy was difficult.
On the afternoon of the 6th, during an interview held at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, she shared various stories about the film Honest Candidate (directed by Jang Yoo-jung).
When asked about the pressure of being the lead star, Ra Mi-ran responded with a laugh, “I think you just have to accept it.”
Ra Mi-ran said, “I felt a lot of pressure about the comedy genre. It’s a difficult genre,” adding, “Making someone laugh is really hard. Comedians must be emotionally drained.”
She continued, “The comedy set is really intense. We fight over how to make it funnier. The set of Honest Candidate was also intense.”
She added, “Sometimes the director and the director of photography want and feel different things. The process of coordinating that was intense,” and said, “Adjusting the tone was the hardest part.”
Honest Candidate is a slapstick comedy about Ju Sang-sook (Ra Mi-ran), a three-term lawmaker for whom lying is the easiest thing, who suddenly becomes unable to lie one day before an election, leading to chaotic events. Ra Mi-ran played the role of the lying lawmaker who can no longer lie. The film was scheduled to be released on the 12th but is currently under discussion due to the impact of the novel coronavirus.
