View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] A recall order has been issued for a total of six products, including three electric blankets with high risks of burns and fire, as well as one electric heating pad, one electric mat, and one electric heating panel.
The National Institute of Technology and Standards announced on the 4th that this action was taken based on the results of an additional safety investigation of winter electric heating products conducted from December last year to January this year.
The recalled products were found to exceed the internal heating element temperature standard by up to 35℃, posing a high risk of burns or fire during use.
Additionally, two products that met safety standards but violated labeling requirements, such as missing "warnings about low-temperature burns" and improper "rated input" markings, were recommended for improvement measures.
The institute disclosed the six recalled products on the Product Safety Information Center and Happy Dream platforms to completely block their sale in the market, and registered them on the OECD Global Recall Portal as part of international cooperation on product safety.
They also registered the products in the Hazardous Product Sales Blocking System linked to nationwide retail stores and online shopping malls, and plan to strengthen publicity by sharing recall information with consumers and civic groups to monitor and prevent the circulation of recalled products in the market.
