First Week of February... Rush of Foreign SUV Launches
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Foreign-made sport utility vehicles (SUVs) are ready to launch and will make their debut in early February. Most of these are premium models, so competition in the luxury SUV market is expected to heat up further.
According to the automotive industry on the 1st, Jaguar Land Rover Korea will hold a launch event for the Land Rover premium family SUV, the New Discovery Sport, on the 6th.
This model, newly released after five years, features newly applied LED headlamps, a cleanly designed front grille, sporty front and rear bumpers, and a downward-extended air intake, giving a dynamic yet strong impression.
The interior space focuses on practicality and versatility. The rear seats, which include a recline function, can slide forward and backward by 160mm, providing ample and comfortable space for all passengers, from young children to adults. The storage space is about 17% larger than before, and the center console cubby box can hold up to 9.9 liters, offering generous storage capacity. The trunk space has been expanded to 897 liters, with a maximum cargo capacity of 1794 liters.
The New Discovery Sport offers a total of three output options with Ingenium diesel and gasoline engines. The 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine is available in 150 horsepower and 180 horsepower versions, delivering strong torque of 38.8kg·m and 43.9kg·m respectively. The 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo gasoline engine produces a high output of 249 horsepower and a maximum torque of 37.2kg·m, delivering dynamic performance. Additionally, the New Discovery Sport is the first to apply a mild hybrid system. The vehicle is equipped with a BiSG (Belt Integrated Starter Generator) and a 48-volt lithium-ion battery that stores energy during driving to assist engine operation.
The domestic sales prices of the New Discovery Sport are 62.3 million KRW for the D150 S trim, 66.4 million KRW for the D180 S trim, 72.7 million KRW for the D180 SE trim, and 69.8 million KRW for the P250 SE trim. All trims come with a 5-year service plan package.
The British supercar brand Aston Martin will unveil its first SUV, the DBX, in Korea on the 5th. The DBX was first introduced in China last November. It impresses with its rich volume and sleek design.
It is equipped with Aston Martin’s latest version of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, delivering a maximum output of 550 horsepower. It produces a maximum torque of 71.4 kg·m and a top speed of 291 km/h. The interior uses the finest materials handcrafted to perfection.

Aston Martin is currently conducting pre-orders for the DBX in Korea, with customer deliveries starting in May. The official domestic sales price of the Aston Martin DBX is 248 million KRW.
