Kyungbok University Forms 'Infectious Disease Countermeasures Committee' to Respond to New Coronavirus
Singapore Overseas Training Postponed, Next Month's Graduation Ceremony to Be Live-Streamed via SNS and More
[Asia Economy (Namyangju) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Kyungbok University is taking special measures for all members of the university by forming an 'Infectious Disease Control Committee' in response to the spread of the novel coronavirus.
According to Kyungbok University on the 31st, the Ministry of Health and Welfare raised the infectious disease crisis alert level from 'Caution' to 'Warning' on the 27th due to the increasing possibility of the novel coronavirus spreading domestically, prompting an emergency countermeasure meeting to prepare response plans.
Kyungbok University first formed the Infectious Disease Control Committee according to the infectious disease prevention crisis response manual. Following the response manual, the university plans to actively promote constant mask-wearing on campus, habitual handwashing with running water for more than 30 seconds, and consultation with the secretary in case of similar symptoms after returning from overseas travel.
Additionally, the university is monitoring recent visitors from China to prepare for any emergencies, and especially plans to provide special management for Chinese international students and cooperate with affiliated hospitals to actively respond in case of urgent situations.
Furthermore, the winter overseas language training program at Singapore MDIS University, originally scheduled to be held in two phases from the 2nd to the 29th of next month, has been postponed to the summer vacation. Kyungbok University annually offers free overseas language training programs at Singapore MDIS University for 180 students each during summer and winter vacations, totaling 360 students per year.

Besides this, Kyungbok University will hold the '2019 Academic Year Graduation Ceremony' scheduled for the 14th of next month with a minimal number of attendees, and the event will be broadcast live online and through SNS.
