On the 29th, President Kim stated through SK Innovation's news channel 'SKinno News,' "We plan to discover and promote a new area called BaaS (Battery as a Service), which platforms the entire value chain from battery production to recycling."
SK Innovation has announced its 'Green Balance 2030' vision and is pursuing portfolio changes under three business model innovation strategies: Green, Technology, and Global. As part of this, the company intends to increase the share of battery and materials businesses and focus on developing eco-friendly products within its existing petroleum and chemical sectors.
To strengthen the execution of Green Balance 2030, SK Innovation recently established a 'C-level Team' system at the group level. Under this team, composed of CEOs from SK Innovation affiliates, design teams for key agendas of Green Balance 2030 have been created. Through this organization, mid- to long-term strategic directions and concrete execution plans will be reviewed.
President Kim emphasized the concept of 'SK Inside,' which means that SK Innovation's technologies and products are at the core of e-mobility.
He said, "SK Innovation possesses the best solutions in all fields, including batteries, which can be called the heart of e-mobility; ultra-lightweight materials, which serve as the skeleton; various lubricants, which act as the blood; and display materials, which correspond to the face. SK Innovation's role will be very important here," expressing confidence.
Regarding CES, which the company participated in for the second time this year, he said, "CES 2020 showed many things, but the most impressive part was that the boundaries between industries are breaking down," adding, "It feels like the areas where SK Innovation can operate have expanded."
He explained, "At the strategy meeting with executives, we all directly saw and felt on-site that 'if we lead the pace of change, it will be a great opportunity, but if not, it will be a crisis,' which is a significant achievement," and added, "It would be good to use CES as a venue to evaluate our performance annually and to pledge for a new year."
