Dongjak-gu Operates '2020 Mobile Comprehensive Welfare Counseling Office'
Operation of 'Visiting Comprehensive Welfare Consultation Office' from February to December... Available at 10 welfare centers and 2 general hospitals... Consultations with experts including lawyers, nurses, and welfare staff... Customized welfare service linkage
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Chang-woo Lee) will operate a ‘Visiting Comprehensive Welfare Counseling Office’ from February to December for residents who have difficulty visiting the district office or administrative agencies due to mobility issues or other reasons.
The ‘Visiting Comprehensive Welfare Counseling Office’ is a resident-centered welfare service where experts in various fields visit 10 welfare centers and 2 general hospitals frequently used by residents to provide direct counseling.
Operating twice a month from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., counseling sessions of two hours each are conducted for the number of applicants recruited through prior applications by each institution.
Residents can receive comprehensive counseling in various fields from five experts including lawyers, nurses, welfare officers, and housing welfare center staff, covering ▲welfare program guidance ▲legal advice ▲health management (dementia counseling) ▲housing counseling for vulnerable groups.
If it is determined that support is needed based on the counseling results, customized welfare services will be provided by linking with the relevant department’s personnel.
Any interested resident can use the service by filling out an application form available at local welfare centers, Boramae Hospital, and Chung-Ang University Hospital, and submitting it in advance.
For more details, inquiries can be made to the Welfare Policy Division (☎820-9541).
Last year, the counseling office handled 1,026 cases, approximately double compared to the previous year, showing a steady increase in users.
Mr. Seong-deuk Kim (63), who used the ‘Visiting Comprehensive Welfare Counseling Office,’ said, “Especially legal expertise was difficult and costly, so it was a big burden, but I am grateful to receive detailed and kind counseling for free.”
Additionally, the district is also running the ‘Legal Home Doctor’ project, which provides free legal services to low-income residents.
The operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, and by visiting the district office’s Welfare Policy Division, residents can receive counseling on everyday legal matters such as bonds, debts, labor relations, wages, divorce, and custody.
Applications can be made by calling the Home Doctor (☎820-9612) to make a prior reservation.
Yoo Won-sik, head of the Welfare Policy Division, said, “The operation of the Visiting Comprehensive Welfare Counseling Office has enabled welfare services that are more closely connected with residents. We will do our best to strengthen follow-up linkage services so that all residents can enjoy practical welfare benefits.”
The district will also launch the ‘Hope Ladder Counseling’ project from March, providing customized management through counseling services for self-sufficiency participants and medical aid case management targets.
