Gyeonggi-do Activates 'Wuhan Pneumonia' Task Force
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has launched a task force to respond to the Chinese 'Wuhan (武漢) pneumonia'.
On the 21st, Gyeonggi Province announced that it has taken preemptive measures such as activating the 'Novel Coronavirus Infection Prevention Task Force' following the first confirmed case of Chinese 'Wuhan pneumonia' in South Korea on the 20th.
That afternoon, the province held an emergency video conference chaired by Kim Hee-gyeom, the first deputy governor of administration, with deputy heads of local governments from 31 cities and counties in the province to discuss measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in the community during the Lunar New Year holidays (January 24-27) and the Chinese Spring Festival holidays (January 24-30).
Accordingly, the province will operate the prevention task force and screening clinics in each city and county, while strengthening the infectious disease surveillance system by informing the public of prevention guidelines and behavioral instructions through the provincial government website and other channels.
A provincial official stated, "Fortunately, the confirmed domestic patient was identified during the quarantine process upon entry and has not been exposed to the local community," and urged, "Please avoid contact with wild animals and poultry in Wuhan, and if you develop fever or respiratory symptoms within 14 days after returning, contact the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency call center (1339) or your local public health center."
