[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Author Gong Ji-young criticized the Liberty Korea Party for sending beef jerky as a Lunar New Year gift to the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism.
On the morning of the 20th, Gong shared a related article on her Facebook and wrote, "Best comment: What about beer? Harm: Craving beef jerky and beer from the morning lol."
Earlier, on the 17th, the Liberty Korea Party sent beef jerky as a Lunar New Year gift in the name of leader Hwang Kyo-ahn to the Jogye Order headquarters in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
However, the Jogye Order, influenced by Mahayana Buddhism, fundamentally prohibits monks from eating meat. It is known that even within the Jogye Order, which received the gift, there were reactions of embarrassment.
After realizing this, the Liberty Korea Party immediately sent staff to retrieve the gift and explained, "The gift was mistakenly delivered to the wrong place," adding, "It was not intended to be disrespectful but was a mistake."
