Earthquake of Magnitude 5.6 Strikes Kuqa County, Xinjiang, China
[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sunhee] At 4:02 PM on the 16th (local time), an earthquake with a Richter scale magnitude of 5.6 occurred in Kuqa County, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China.
According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, the epicenter was located at 41.21 degrees north latitude, 83.60 degrees east longitude, at a depth of 1600 meters underground. Local fire authorities reported that no casualties or house collapses have been reported yet, and that rescue teams have been dispatched to the site to conduct investigations.
