"'Left Justice Party' Jin Joong-kwon: 'I Threw the Party Plaque into the Trash'"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Juhyung] It has been confirmed that the Justice Party has processed the resignation letter of former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon.
Justice Party lawmaker Yoon So-ha announced Jin's resignation on Facebook on the 11th. On that day, he said, "Thank you, Jin Joong-kwon, for everything so far," adding, "Except for the recent reckless behavior."
He continued, "The resignation letter you requested has been properly processed," and said, "Please do not criticize too harshly. I believe this was a process of minimum courtesy toward party member Jin Joong-kwon."
He also added, "Though it may be presumptuous, I would like to ask the professor to calm his mind and observe the world more seriously."
In response, former professor Jin posted on Facebook, "I asked for the resignation to be handled quietly, so why did they have to say something on the way out?" He criticized, "I regarded the plaque of appreciation I received from the party as the highest honor and treasured it, but after hearing Yoon's words, I threw it in the trash."
He also pointed out, "I feel a sense of self-disgust, wondering if the dedication I offered to the party was merely an activity to increase the number of seats used for 'factional chances.'" He added, "Are you very confused about the world? That's why there is something called principle."
He further stated, "If it is a party that advocates justice, it should stand on the side of powerless children who studied hard but had their opportunities taken away, not students who gained admission through unfair means thanks to their well-off parents."
Previously, Jin had submitted a resignation letter in September last year due to differences in opinion regarding the appointment of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk. At that time, he withdrew his resignation decision after persuasion from the Justice Party leadership.
