Busan City's Unique 'Online Video Message' New Year's Ceremony Draws Attention

According to Busan City on the 3rd, the traditional opening ceremony, where hundreds of employees gathered in one place, was changed this year to delivering New Year's video messages through TVs within each department. In the video message, Mayor Oh Keo-don introduced achievements such as improvements in key economic indicators including employment rate and startup performance, highlighting the youth employment rate reaching its highest level in 17 years, as well as follow-up projects from the Korea-ASEAN Special Summit.
Mayor Oh said, "If we carry this momentum forward to successfully host the 2030 EXPO Busan, the global city Busan will become a reality right before our eyes," adding, "Urban innovation through the grand remodeling of Busan has begun, and the selection as a blockchain special zone and designation as a national pilot smart city have opened the possibility of becoming a leading city in core technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution."
Mayor Oh continued, "The year 2020 will be a year of economic innovation. To this end, we will boldly invest and support," emphasizing, "To complete the global city Busan, we must promote Busan to countries around the world. I will take the lead."
