3rd Generation K5 Selected as 'Car of January' by Automobile Journalists Association
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The Korea Automobile Journalists Association announced on the 3rd that the 3rd generation K5 from Kia Motors was selected as the Car of the Month for January 2020 by the association's Car of the Year Selection Committee.
The Car of the Year Selection Committee under the Korea Automobile Journalists Association evaluates new cars and facelift models released during the month from the 1st to the end of each month based on five categories: ▲exterior design ▲interior design ▲product practicality ▲safety and convenience features ▲marketability and purchase intention. The committee selects candidate vehicles through a comprehensive evaluation of these categories, and then the executives of the Car of the Year Selection Committee vote to choose the best vehicle.
Last month, the 3rd generation K5 from Kia Motors and the DS Automobiles DS3 Crossback were nominated as candidates for Car of the Month for January. After fierce competition, the 3rd generation K5 was finally selected as the Car of the Month with 21 points out of 25. A 1 to 5 point scale was applied for each of the five evaluation categories, and the 3rd generation K5 recorded an average of 4.2 points out of 5 across all categories, receiving excellent scores overall.
Lee Seung-yong, chairman of the Car of the Year Selection Committee, commented, "The 3rd generation K5 is a family sedan that is smart and enjoyable to drive, featuring a bold and dynamic exterior design, a driver-centered structure, futuristic and high-tech interior, and interactive technology that allows active communication between the vehicle and the driver."
