On the 2nd, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office announced that it would indict Hwang and Na, who were accused of obstruction of official duties and violation of the National Assembly Act during the Fast Track process in April last year, without detention.
The prosecution also indicted 12 Liberty Korea Party lawmakers facing the same charges, including Kang Hyo-sang, Kim Myung-yeon, Kim Jung-jae, Min Kyung-wook, Song Eon-seok, Yoon Han-hong, Lee Man-hee, Lee Eun-jae, Jung Gap-yoon, Jung Yang-seok, Jung Yong-gi, and Jung Tae-ok. According to the prosecution, they are accused of obstructing the submission of documents to the National Assembly Secretariat and disrupting the meetings of the Political Reform Special Committee (Jeonggae Special Committee) and the Judicial Reform Special Committee (Sagai Special Committee) during the Fast Track process in April last year.
Some, including former floor leader Na Kyung-won, are also accused of detaining Cha Yi-bae, a member of the Bareunmirae Party, during the clashes. The prosecution requested summary orders for lawmakers Gwak Sang-do, Kim Seon-dong, Kim Sung-tae, Kim Tae-heum, Park Sung-joong, Yoon Sang-jik, Lee Jang-woo, Lee Cheol-gyu, Jang Je-won, and Hong Cheol-ho, who were less involved.
Additionally, 37 lawmakers and 11 aides and party officials, whose involvement was accidental or whose use of force was minor, were given non-prosecution dispositions.
Furthermore, members of the ruling Democratic Party were also indicted on charges including joint assault.
First, lawmaker Lee Jong-gul was indicted without detention for violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes by assaulting a Liberty Korea Party staff member by strangling his neck.
Lawmakers Park Beom-gye and Pyo Chang-won were also indicted for assaulting Liberty Korea Party staff members. Lawmaker Kim Byung-wook was indicted without detention for causing injuries requiring six weeks of medical treatment to Liberty Korea Party member Kim Seung-hee.
On the other hand, lawmakers from the Bareunmirae Party were cleared of charges related to obstructing the submission of resignation and replacement applications on April 24 last year.
