The Korea Journalists Association announced on May 11 that Chairman Park Jonghyun was elected as an executive committee member for a three-year term (2026–2029) at the 100th anniversary world congress of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) held in Paris, France.

View original imageFounded in 1926, the IFJ is the world’s largest international journalists’ organization, with over 600,000 journalists from 146 countries as members. At this world congress, which is held every three years, a total of 22 officers were directly elected, including 16 executive committee members who serve as advisors, one alternate executive member to prepare for sudden vacancies, and one auditor. The IFJ Executive Committee is the key elected body that determines the IFJ’s practical operations and the direction of its international activities.
As an executive committee member, Chairman Park will directly present various opinions on journalism issues within the international community. He will also participate in regular and emergency on-site meetings, as well as occasional meetings held via video and online communication.
Chairman Park stated, "I would like to emphasize the significance of recognizing the role of Korean media and democratic society," adding, "I will contribute to enhancing the role of the press and the spread of K-democracy."

Meanwhile, the congress addressed topics including strengthening journalist safety, responding to the media environment in the era of artificial intelligence (AI), supporting female journalists, and expanding international media exchanges.
