Cracking Down on Scams: Police Share K-Police Model with Southeast Asian Partners
Strengthening Joint Response to Transnational Crimes Based in Southeast Asia
The Korean police, who have successfully dismantled scam organizations based in Southeast Asia, plan to share the 'K-Police Model' with major partner countries in Southeast Asia in order to jointly respond to transnational crimes in the future.
The International Police Cooperation Bureau of the National Police Agency announced on the 11th that it will conduct a training program for 20 police officers from Laos and Cambodia to transfer the K-Police Model. Ten mid-level managers from the General Police Department of Laos will participate in training at the Korean National Police University and other institutions from May 12 to May 23, while ten investigators from the Korea Task Force and Intelligence Bureau of the Cambodian National Police will receive training from May 20 to May 29.
This training is part of the K-Police Model transfer program promoted by the National Police Agency. The agency plans to provide intensive education to the police of both countries on ▲techniques for tracking criminal proceeds and virtual assets, ▲investigation skills for cyber gambling and online fraud, ▲practical investigation of drug-related and other transnational crimes, and ▲international cooperation frameworks and procedures. It is expected that this will further strengthen practical networks and lay a more robust foundation for joint investigations, including the swift extradition of fugitives between the countries.
