Osan City Mobilizes for Summer Natural Disasters... Holds Preparedness Briefing and On-site Inspections
Osan City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Gwonjae) announced on April 16, 2026, that it held the '2026 Summer Season Natural Disaster Preparedness Briefing and On-site Inspection' on April 14 in order to protect citizens' lives and property from natural disasters in the summer, such as extreme heavy rainfall caused by abnormal weather events. With this, the city has officially launched its comprehensive safety inspection system.
The briefing, presided over by Osan Mayor Lee Gwonjae, was attended by relevant departments from the main office, affiliated agencies, and all eight districts. The participants shared the status of pre-inspections by department and worked to establish disaster prevention measures that leave no blind spots. Notably, related organizations such as Osan Police Station and Osan Fire Station also participated, discussing cooperation measures for rapid dissemination of information and emergency rescue operations in the event of a disaster.
Immediately after the briefing, inspections and live-operation drills were carried out at rainwater pumping stations in the city, which are key facilities for preventing flood damage. The team then visited areas at risk of casualties and the site of Osan’s 6th drainage gate to check the proper functioning of major equipment such as controllers, thereby assessing the effectiveness of the disaster response system.
