Incheon City to Complete Pedestrian Overpass Connecting Central Park Districts 2 and 3 by Next May
Incheon City announced that it will begin construction on May 13 to install a pedestrian overpass connecting District 2 and District 3 of Central Park.
The pedestrian overpass will be built with a total project cost of 4.3 billion won, measuring 111 meters in length and 3.5 meters in width. In particular, it is designed to naturally connect the long green corridor of Central Park, ensuring safe and convenient use for all visitors, including those with limited mobility. The city aims to complete construction by May next year.
Opened in 2005, Central Park is one of Incheon's representative urban parks, stretching 3.9 kilometers in length and 100 meters in width, from Gwangyo-dong in Michuhol-gu to Ganseok-dong in Namdong-gu.
However, since Central Park is divided into a total of nine districts, citizens have experienced inconvenience having to cross crosswalks to move between sections of the park. To address this, the city has been sequentially promoting the construction of pedestrian overpasses to enhance connectivity and provide more convenient access for citizens.
In 2020, pedestrian overpasses were installed to connect Districts 3 and 4, as well as Districts 4 and 5 of Central Park.
