Democratic Party to File Party-Level Complaint Against Daejang-dong Investigation Team Leaders
"Cases Fabricated to Target President Lee Jae-myung"
On April 19, members of the Democratic Party of Korea, who are part of the Special Committee of the National Assembly for the Investigation into the Alleged Political Prosecution and Fabricated Indictment Case under the Yoon Suk-yeol Administration, announced that the party will file criminal complaints against the prosecutors responsible for the investigations into the Daejangdong and Wirye New Town cases.
On the 19th, at the 기자간담회 of the Democratic Party of Korea belonging to the Special Committee for the National Assembly Investigation on the Alleged Political Prosecution and Fabricated Indictment Case under the Yoon Seok-yeol Administration held at the National Assembly, Representative Lee Geontae is explaining about the Daejangdong case. The members claimed that the cases were fabricated to target President Lee Jaemyung during the investigation and indictment process.
Representative Lee Geontae cited several points as grounds: testimony from the first investigation team stating that, after the team was replaced, President Lee and Jeong Jin-sang, former Chief of Staff for Policy Coordination of the Democratic Party, were included as accomplices in the Daejangdong case; testimony from Nam Wook, a private contractor in the Daejangdong development project, who stated that prosecutors told him, "We have only one goal" during the investigation; claims that the second investigation team reviewed case records without confirmation or approval from the previous team leader before their formal appointment; and seizure records that labeled President Lee as a "suspect" even though he had not been formally booked at the time.
Additionally, referring to Nam's assertion that the city of Seongnam recovered approximately 556 billion won through the Daejangdong project, Lee emphasized, "At the time, Seongnam Mayor Lee Jaemyung maximized public recovery through the Daejangdong project," and stressed, "We have confirmed various pieces of evidence that demonstrate there was no collusive relationship between the private contractors and President Lee."
During the briefing, suspicions were also raised that the so-called "Kim Tae-kyun meeting minutes," used as evidence of guilt in the first trial of the Ssangbangwool remittance to North Korea case involving Lee Hwa-young, former Vice Governor for Peace of Gyeonggi Province, may have been fabricated after the fact.
Park Sungjun, the ruling party's secretary on the committee, claimed that the prosecution did not verify the authenticity of the original file, even though the meeting minutes were submitted only in paper form.

He cited the results of Representative Noh Jongmyeon's on-site inspection of the meeting minutes' drafting location in Tokyo, Japan, explaining, "There was only one computer with a Japanese keyboard, which makes typing in Korean difficult, in the hotel lobby in question." He also noted that the legal team for former Vice Governor Lee Hwa-young received confirmation from the apartment in Seattle, USA—another alleged location for drafting the minutes—that there was "no public computer" available.
