Notable Increase in Export Share to North America and China
In 2024, the Korean game industry maintained its growth trajectory, with total revenue surpassing 23 trillion won.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency published the "2025 Korea Game White Paper" on March 25, compiling the domestic and global status of the game industry for 2024.
According to the report, the overall industry indicators showed an upward trend. The total sales of the Korean game industry in 2024 reached 23.8515 trillion won, a 3.9% increase from the previous year. The number of employees also grew by 3.1%, reaching 87,576. Of these, 62% (54,285 people) were engaged in production and distribution.
By sector, mobile games held an overwhelming dominance in revenue, accounting for 14.071 trillion won or 59% of the total market. PC games followed with 6.0094 trillion won (25.2%), console games with 1.1836 trillion won (5.0%), and arcade games with 275.9 billion won (1.2%). Except for arcade games, which declined by 3.2%, console games (up 4.8%), mobile games (up 3.4%), and PC games (up 2.0%) all recorded steady growth rates.
Performance in overseas markets was also notable. In 2024, game exports increased by 1.3% from the previous year to 8.50346 billion US dollars (approximately 11.5985 trillion won). The global market share stood at 7.2%, ranking fourth after China, the United States, and Japan.

The main export destinations were China (29.7%), Southeast Asia (20.6%), North America (19.5%), and Japan (8.3%). Compared to the previous year, the share of North America and China expanded by 4.7% and 4.2%, respectively. In contrast, game imports fell by 3.2% to 245.574 million US dollars.
