Song Si-Hyun Dream Releases New Song "Child of May" to Commemorate May 18 Democratization Movement
The project band Song Si-Hyun Dream, led by composer Song Si-Hyun, announced that it will release its new song "Child of May" on various music streaming platforms at 12:00 p.m. on May 7.
"Child of May" was planned to commemorate the May 18 Democratization Movement. The song addresses the story of a family intertwined with the 1980 Gwangju Democratization Movement. It expresses in music the growing pains and determination experienced by a son. This is the second work of the project, following last month's release of "A Dreamlike World."
The song begins with a single person's recitation and gradually expands into a chorus of multiple voices. It conveys the determination to keep singing and never forget the memories of that day. Song Si-Hyun wrote the lyrics and composed the music, while Park In-Hwan participated in the arrangement.
Song Si-Hyun Dream stated, "Through 'Child of May,' we aimed to clearly convey the band's direction and message," adding, "We will continue to communicate with the world through music." The band also plans to reinterpret and present songs such as Lee Sunhee's "When Turning the Pages of a Memory Book" in the future.
