The production company Hive Media Corp announced on May 5 that actor Lee Byung-hun will star in the hard-boiled martial arts action film "Nambal."
The story follows nine warriors of the early Joseon Dynasty who embark on a journey to Tsushima Island to rescue prisoners abducted by Japanese pirates.
Lee Byung-hun takes on the role of Im Eok, the leader of the warriors. He is a character who guides a life-or-death mission with his cool-headed judgment and unwavering conviction, honed through countless battlefields.

The film will be directed by cinematographer Lee Mogae, known for "12.12: The Day," "Exhuma," and "Hunt." Filming is scheduled to begin in the second half of the year.
