The 17th Kwon Jeongsaeng Literary Award has been given to the young adult novel "A Swimming Pool Without Water" by author Sunjung Kim.
The Kwon Jeongsaeng Children's Foundation announced on the 11th that Kim's "A Swimming Pool Without Water" has been selected as this year's recipient of the Kwon Jeongsaeng Literary Award.
"A Swimming Pool Without Water" is a work that unravels the tragic reality of a foot-and-mouth disease outbreak and mass culling in the form of a mystery. It encapsulates the death of animals and the responsibility of humans within a narrative accessible to young readers.
The panel of judges commented that the work "reminds us of the equality of all beings, both great and small, the meaning of being alive, and the nobility of living itself."
Author Sunjung Kim began her literary career in 2011. Since then, she has published children's books such as "Find Choi Kibong!", "Vacation Research Life," and "Our Class's Debt Relations."
