View original imageThe city announced that on May 14, an official friendship city agreement was formally signed at Iloilo City Hall in the Philippines for the mutual development of both cities.
Present at the signing ceremony were Kim Jeongil, Deputy Mayor and Acting Mayor of Yangju City, Iloilo City Mayor Rosanna S. Treñas, and delegations from both cities. During the event, both sides signed the agreement and agreed to lay the foundation for mutual growth across various municipal areas, including education, tourism, culture, and sports.
Iloilo City, a leading educational city in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines, is home to numerous universities and educational institutions. The city is recognized for providing a safe and stable educational environment and is actively engaged in international exchanges and educational cooperation.
Through this agreement, Yangju City expects to leverage the excellent English-speaking educational infrastructure of the Philippines to expand international exchange experiences and foreign language proficiency for its local students.
The two cities have agreed to focus on language training and various educational programs for Yangju citizens and youth. Moving forward, they plan to discuss and implement specific action plans to ensure tangible benefits will reach citizens, particularly in the field of education.
Deputy Mayor Kim Jeongil stated, "Iloilo City is a place rich in historical resources and passionate about education. This agreement will serve as an important milestone in delivering real global benefits to Yangju citizens," adding, "We will continue to collaborate to ensure practical exchanges based on the trust built from the early stages of consultation."
