Gyeongbuk Technopark (President Ha Inseong, Gyeongbuk TP) is set to launch the "Regional Innovation Leading Enterprise Fostering (R&D) Project" to enhance the competitiveness of key local industries and strengthen the technological capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Gyeongbuk TP announced that, as a result of the project competition organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, a total of 28 SMEs in the Gyeongbuk region have been selected, securing 18.34 billion won in national funding.
This project is designed to upgrade the industrial ecosystem by boosting R&D capabilities of SMEs in the region’s leading industries.
The selected companies will receive a total project budget of 26.2 billion won over the next two years, combining 18.34 billion won in national funds and 7.86 billion won in local funds.
By industry, the energy and environment sector accounts for the largest share with 12 companies (11.8 billion won), followed by the mobility (automotive) sector with 11 companies (9.4 billion won), and the electrical and electronics sector with 5 companies (5 billion won).
The selected companies will embark on the development of core technologies directly linked to the region’s future growth engines. Key tasks include: ▲ Advanced components and lightweight materials for future vehicles ▲ Safety components for secondary batteries and ESS (energy storage systems) ▲ AI-based manufacturing inspection systems ▲ Advancement of semiconductor and electronic component materials.
Gyeongbuk TP plans not only to provide funding, but also to fully mobilize its advanced research equipment, specialized personnel, and corporate support infrastructure.
In particular, the institution will provide close support throughout the entire R&D process, from signing agreements to performance management, with a focus on "commercialization"—ensuring that technology development leads to actual sales and job creation.
