[6.3 Election] Min Hyungbae Registers as Jeonnam-Gwangju Special Mayor Candidate... "Will Create a City Where Young People Stay"
“Implementing the Regional-Led Growth Strategy in Jeonnam-Gwangju”
On May 14, the first day of candidate registration for the June 3 local elections, Min Hyungbae, the Democratic Party candidate for the integrated mayoral election of Jeonnam and Gwangju, completed his registration at the Gwangju Election Commission. Min presented his vision as the first integrated special mayor, stating, "I will create a city where young people do not leave and a city that competes on the global stage."
Immediately after registering, Min said, "We must put an end to the long-standing neglect and imbalance experienced by Jeonnam and Gwangju," adding, "I will be the first to implement the regional-led growth strategy promoted by the Lee Jaemyung administration in the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City."
He discussed living conditions, safety, and the residential environment as key directions for the integrated special city. He explained that his goal is to create a city where citizens do not feel any shortcomings when it comes to working and living in the region.
Min Hyung-bae, the Democratic Party candidate for the combined Gwangju-Jeonnam special mayoral election, is holding up his registration application after completing candidate registration at the Gwangju Election Commission on the 14th.
View original imageMin especially addressed the issue of youth outflow, saying, "Young people should be able to learn, work, and continue their lives in the region without moving to the Seoul metropolitan area. Creating a city where people can raise children and plan their futures is the most important task."
Min also stated, "Together with the citizens, I will prepare for the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City to grow into a city with competitiveness that surpasses Seoul," adding, "I will make it a city that can stand proudly on the world stage."

In addition to Min, candidates preparing to run for the inaugural Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special Mayor election include Lee Junghyun from the People Power Party, Lee Jongwook from the Progressive Party, Kang Eunmi from the Justice Party, and independent candidate Kim Kwangman.
