Financial Supervisory Service Holds Meeting with Insurance Sector to Promote Employment of People with Disabilities
Sharing Programs and Best Practices for Supporting the Employment of People with Disabilities
On May 14, the Financial Supervisory Service announced that it had held a meeting in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment and Labor, Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities, and both the Korea Life Insurance Association and the General Insurance Association of Korea, to promote employment opportunities for people with disabilities in the insurance sector.
This meeting was organized to create a forum for discussing ways to expand employment for people with disabilities within the insurance industry.
The attendees shared various programs supporting the employment of persons with disabilities, as well as outstanding examples of such employment, and discussed suggestions and requests from the industry in order to devise strategies for revitalizing the employment of people with disabilities.
The Financial Supervisory Service urged the insurance industry to view the employment of people with disabilities not merely as a legal obligation but as a part of realizing inclusive values. The Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities presented employment support programs such as consulting services and customized training for people with disabilities, and also proposed a roadmap for further employment expansion.
The insurance sector introduced Hanwha’s case—the first in the industry to achieve the mandatory employment rate for persons with disabilities—as a best practice. At the same time, participants discussed challenges related to employment with the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities and other organizations to seek solutions.

The Financial Supervisory Service stated that it plans to actively collaborate with the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities, the Korea Life Insurance Association, and the General Insurance Association of Korea to ensure that a culture of employing people with disabilities becomes firmly established within the insurance sector.
