Tech Conference Invites Talents from Science and Engineering Fields

From Graduate Students to Gifted and Science High School Students

Vice Chairman: "Unleash Your Dreams on the LG Stage"

LG's technology development talents gathered together in one place.

On May 14, LG held the LG Tech Conference at LG Science Park in Magok, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, inviting outstanding talents from the science and engineering fields. The LG Tech Conference, which began in 2012, is an event that invites top talents to LG's R&D hub, LG Science Park, to introduce technological innovation and share the company's vision for the future.

This year, in addition to the domestic master's and doctoral R&D students who were previously invited, LG expanded the diversity of participants by also inviting 100 students from gifted and science high schools as well as international students, with the aim of preparing for the future from a long-term perspective.

The event brought together top executives and technology leaders from nine LG affiliates—including LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Innotek, LG Chem, LG Energy Solution, LG Household & Health Care, LG Uplus, LG CNS, and LG AI Research Institute—as well as Kwon Bongseok, Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Vice Chairman of LG Corp., and Jung Sooheon, CEO of LG Science Park and Chairman of the LG Technology Council. In total, 71 CEOs, CTOs, CHOs, and technology leaders from these affiliates attended the event.

In his opening speech, Vice Chairman Kwon emphasized to the invited talents, "At LG, we consider our members—who are the source of customer value creation—to be our most important asset. If you fully express your dreams and passions on LG's stage, LG will be your strongest supporter in bringing your technologies to the world."

This year, LG invited 100 gifted science students from eight gifted and science high schools in the Seoul metropolitan area, nearly quadrupling the number of student participants compared to last year. Notably, the invitation list included members of the "Alpha Generation"—students born after 2010—for the first time.

For the special session dedicated to gifted and science high school students, Honglak Lee, Co-Director and Chief AI Scientist (CSAI) at LG AI Research Institute and an alumnus of Seoul Science High School, participated as the speaker for the talk concert. Honglak Lee candidly shared his journey from being a science high school student to becoming a global AI scholar, delivering a message of inspiration and encouragement to students aspiring to become future scientists.

This year, the LG Tech Conference also invited international students for the first time, including those from nine countries such as China, Russia, and Vietnam, in a move to secure global talent. These international students are master's and doctoral candidates currently attending domestic universities, and each LG affiliate invited talents with high growth potential.

At six buildings and nine lecture halls in LG Science Park, 31 technology leaders presented their research achievements in the "Tech Session."

The Tech Session allowed participants to choose lectures in their fields of interest, such as AI and robotics, mobility, batteries, materials, and telecommunications. The newly introduced "One LG" Tech Session was particularly popular, highlighting the synergy generated through cross-affiliate technology collaboration and the expansion of research beyond traditional boundaries.

The One LG Tech Session showcased cases that transcended affiliate boundaries to create a unified technology ecosystem, including: "Vertical Farm" for overcoming environmental constraints in crop cultivation (LG Electronics, LG CNS, Farm Hannong), research on cosmetic efficacy materials using AI models (LG Household & Health Care, LG AI Research Institute), and "AI Data Center (AIDC) Strategy and Technology Solutions" (LG Electronics, LG Energy Solution, LG Uplus, LG CNS).

In the exhibition zone, the invited talents were able to directly experience collaborative outcomes from LG affiliates, including physical AI solutions, the AI digital cockpit, and next-generation battery solutions.
