Regional On-Site Roundtable Held at Yonsei University
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 13th that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Paik Kun presided over a regional on-site roundtable for the "5th Master Plan for Fostering and Supporting Science and Technology Talent" at Yonsei University in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul.

View original imageThe roundtable was attended by undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, teachers from universities in the Seoul metropolitan area, officials from the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Director General for Talent Policy at the Ministry of Education, and the Director of the Talent Strategy Center at the Korea Institute of S&T Evaluation and Planning (KISTEP). Discussions centered on establishing a foundation for the growth of science and engineering researchers starting from the pre-entry phase, and on strengthening support for basic sciences.
This master plan is the highest-level statutory plan in the field of science and technology talent, outlining mid- to long-term policy goals and tasks through 2030. With this roundtable, the Ministry of Science and ICT will conclude the collection of on-site regional opinions and finalize the master plan in the first half of this year.

Deputy Prime Minister Paik stated, "We are establishing a master plan focused on creating a social and cultural environment where people aspire to become scientists and engineers, shifting the paradigm for talent development, strategically attracting overseas talent, and strengthening the capabilities of regional talent to drive national balanced growth." He added, "We will faithfully reflect the opinions proposed today, as well as other on-site feedback, in the master plan."
