Accelerating Expansion into the Eastern European Market
Hyundai Rotem is participating in the largest defense industry exhibition in Eastern Europe to showcase its advanced unmanned systems technology and ground weapon system capabilities.
Hyundai Rotem announced that it will take part in BSDA 2026, which will be held in Bucharest, Romania, from May 13 to May 15.
BSDA (Black Sea Defense, Aerospace and Security) is the largest defense exhibition in Eastern Europe and the Black Sea region, sponsored by the Romanian Ministry of National Defense and held biennially. Hyundai Rotem is participating again this year following its 2024 appearance, accelerating its efforts to expand in the Eastern European market.
The theme of this year’s exhibition is “Romania’s Partner in Readiness.” Hyundai Rotem, together with domestic partners, is presenting advanced ground weapon systems such as the K2 main battle tank and multi-purpose unmanned vehicles, highlighting its role as a strategic partner contributing to Romania’s security capabilities and the development of its defense industry.
At this exhibition, Hyundai Rotem is focusing on introducing unmanned systems technologies, including the multi-purpose unmanned vehicle HR-SHERPA, unmanned firefighting robots, and multi-legged walking robots. The company is also holding demonstration programs at the outdoor booth, simulating real operational environments.
The demonstrations include: ▲ Counter-drone operations using the HR-SHERPA platform for enemy drone detection and interception missions; ▲ Joint reconnaissance and fire support missions utilizing the multi-legged walking robot and HR-SHERPA; ▲ Operation and mission execution of an unmanned firefighting robot based on the HR-SHERPA platform.
The company is also showcasing its capabilities in package projects that combine defense and railway businesses. Alongside defense products such as the K2 tank and 30-ton wheeled armored vehicles, Hyundai Rotem is exhibiting high-speed trains and electric multiple units, including the EMU-370 and KTX-Cheongryong. A diorama of an integrated hydrogen solution, including hydrogen production and charging facilities, is also on display.
Hyundai Rotem has set up a dedicated “Mutual Growth Zone” within its booth for partner companies. The plan is to display equipment from partner firms involved in key defense product development and production, promoting the competitiveness of the domestic defense ecosystem and capabilities for joint overseas expansion.
The K2 main battle tank is displayed at the front of the booth, with other products such as an armored recovery vehicle, bridge-laying vehicle, obstacle-clearing vehicle, and 30-ton wheeled armored vehicles exhibited inside. Hyundai Rotem aims to further expand business opportunities in the Eastern European market, where demand for ground weapon systems is growing.
