"AI to Reshape Human Roles"... Government Launches Future Society Strategy Council
Mid- to Long-Term Strategies Discussed:
Coexistence of Humans and AI,
Transformation of the Creative Ecosystem, and More
The Ministry of Science and ICT has launched nationwide discussions on strategies to respond to the societal changes that artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies will bring to the future. The ministry believes that the advancement of AI will not only transform industries but also reshape economic, educational, cultural, defense, and legal systems, as well as the very roles of humans.
On May 13, at the National Science and Technology Advisory Council in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, the Ministry of Science and ICT held the inaugural meeting of the “Science, Technology, and AI Future Strategy Council,” officially commencing its operations.

The council is tasked with conducting multidimensional analyses of the interplay between advanced technology and social change, and with identifying the necessary policy directions and national agendas for society’s transformation in the future.
At the meeting, two presentations were delivered, focusing on topics such as changes in the role of humans in the AI era and the transformation of the creative ecosystem.
First, Professor Kim Juho presented on “The Science Between Technology and Humanity in the AI Era: Invisible Gaps and Conditions for Coexistence.” Professor Kim discussed the division of roles and coexistence between AI and humans, as well as new social disparities that may arise during technological development.
Next, CEO Kwon Hansle gave a presentation on “The Status and Future of AI Transformation (AX) in the Video Content Industry,” introducing the direction of changes that the spread of AI-based production technologies will bring to the content industry and creative ecosystem.
During the open discussion, experts from each field exchanged views not only on the coexistence of humans and AI and changes in the creative ecosystem, but also on the restructuring of industrial and economic systems driven by advancements in advanced technologies, the redefinition of human roles, and the tasks the nation must prepare for future generations.
The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to hold regular meetings of the Future Strategy Council every quarter. The key agendas discussed will undergo in-depth research in cooperation with relevant research institutions and will be sequentially released as a “Future Agenda Series.” For matters requiring cross-ministerial collaboration, the ministry will work in conjunction with the Meeting of Ministers Related to Science and Technology to ensure effective policy implementation.
