"A Small Asian Journey in Busan"... Asia Cultural Festival to Be Held at Sasang Renaissance
Traditional Performances, Food Experiences, and Migrant Singing Contest
A Cultural Festival Created by Citizens and Migrants Together
The Busan Support Center for Foreign Residents will hold the "2026 Asia Cultural Festival" on May 17 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Renaissance Square in Sasang, in celebration of World Citizens Day.
With the theme "Welcome! This is the Asian Village," this event is recognized as Busan's representative festival of cultural diversity, providing an opportunity to experience a variety of Asian countries' traditional cultures, foods, and performances all in one place.
This festival is co-hosted by the Busan Support Center for Foreign Residents, seven Asian communities—including Nepal, Myanmar, Vietnam, China, Cambodia, Pakistan, and the Philippines—and the Busan Support Center for Foreign Workers. The event is supported by Migrants Together, Busan Bank, Renaissance, and MAMF.
The main programs, including cultural and food experience booths, will be directly operated by members of each national community. Participants will be able to experience traditional crafts alongside locals, enjoy traditional foods and games from each country, and try out traditional instruments, allowing them to immerse themselves in Asian cultures.
In particular, the Vietnamese community will provide a special experience and photo zone where visitors can try on the traditional costume "Ao Dai" and the traditional hat "Non La," offering citizens a memorable experience.
The stage performances will be diverse as well. Starting with a brass quintet performance by the Busan Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra, the program will feature traditional Vietnamese dance, a Filipino traditional instrument performance, and, as the main event, the "Korea Migrant Singing Contest Busan Regional Preliminary," in which 12 foreign residents living in Busan will showcase their talent and passion on stage.
Additionally, various participatory programs will take place at the venue, such as the environmental campaign by the migrant volunteer group "Together Green Busan," industrial accident prevention VR experiences by the Busan branch of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, and a crime prevention campaign by the Busan Police Agency.
Supported by Busan Bank, a variety of prize events will also be held, giving away items such as AirPods Pro 3, a Samsung microwave oven, a Xiaomi tower fan, and a carry-on suitcase, further enhancing the enjoyment of the festival.
