[Weather Tomorrow] Rain Until Tuesday Afternoon... Heavy Downpours in Some Areas Possible
Rain to Continue in Gyeongnam and Jeju Until the Evening of May 12
Rain is expected to fall nationwide until the afternoon of Tuesday, May 12.
On May 11, due to the influence of a pressure trough moving eastward from the Shandong Peninsula in China, rain fell mainly in the central region, and as of 5:00 p.m., rain was falling primarily in the Seoul metropolitan area and the Chungcheong regions.
This evening, the rain will expand to Jeonbuk and Gyeongbuk, and by the early morning of May 12, Jeonnam and Jeju will also start to see rain, followed by Gyeongnam later that morning.
In most areas, the rain will stop by the afternoon of May 12, but in Gyeongnam and Jeju, it will continue into the evening.
The expected additional rainfall amounts are: 20 to 70 mm in Honam, 10 to 50 mm in Chungcheong, Gyeongnam, and Jeju, 10 to 40 mm in the Seoul metropolitan area, 5 to 40 mm in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, 5 to 30 mm in inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, 5 to 20 mm in Busan and Ulsan, around 5 mm in Ulleungdo and Dokdo, and less than 5 mm on the east coast of Gangwon.
At times during May 12, heavy rain of around 30 mm per hour is expected in Chungcheong, Honam, and the western part of Gyeongnam.
Other regions may also experience rain at a rate of 10 to 20 mm per hour, so precautions should be taken.
The Korea Meteorological Administration advised, "Rain will come and go repeatedly, and rainfall amounts may vary greatly even within the same area, so please refer to real-time weather radar images and the latest weather information."
Temperatures will remain similar to or slightly higher than average for the time being, but due to cloudy and rainy conditions, daytime highs on May 12 will be slightly lower than the seasonal average.
The expected minimum and maximum temperatures for the morning and afternoon of May 12 are 12 to 16 degrees Celsius and 19 to 23 degrees Celsius, respectively.
