Democratic Party's Song Soonho and National Innovation Party's Sim Kyutak Unite ... "Will Set Stalled Changwon Administration Back on Track"
Song Soonho, candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, and Sim Kyutak, candidate of the National Innovation Party, who both ran for Mayor of Changwon Special City in the 9th Nationwide Local Elections, have agreed to unify their candidacies.
On May 11, Sim Kyutak held a joint press conference at the Changwon City Hall Press Center and announced, "I am stepping down from my candidacy for mayor and declaring the unification of the democratic progressive candidate with Song Soonho."

He stated, "Because of my own small political justification, I could not jeopardize the earnest wishes of the citizens of Changwon: the normalization of city administration, the purging of insurrectionary forces, and the path toward major social reforms. From today, Song Soonho is not only the unified democratic-progressive candidate bearing my share, but also the candidate who must realize the clear and thorough reform vision that the National Innovation Party has upheld in Changwon together with me."
He further emphasized, "By combining the clarity of the National Innovation Party and the practical execution of the Democratic Party of Korea, we will open a new path for Changwon. Together with Song Soonho, I will create a new Changwon where Masan, Changwon, and Jinhae can prosper together."

Song Soonho expressed his gratitude, saying, "I thank Sim Kyutak for making a major decision for the victory of the democratic-progressive camp and the normalization of Changwon’s city administration. This unification is a decision that honors the will of the citizens who called for Changwon to be set right and for the protection of their livelihoods."
He went on to say, "The urgent need to quickly normalize the stalled city administration of Changwon led to this unification. After a legal review, we will work together within the maximum extent permitted by law, joining forces with Sim Kyutak and his campaign to secure victory."
