[Weather] Mostly Clear Skies in the Metropolitan Area... Nationwide "Strong Winds" Expected
On Friday, May 8, the weather across the country will be mostly cloudy, but it will clear up from the early morning. The metropolitan area will generally see clear skies, while Gangwon Province will experience frequent cloud cover. Fine dust levels are expected to remain at 'good' levels nationwide.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, there will be rain in the inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, eastern North Jeolla, North Gyeongsang, and the mountainous areas of Jeju Island early in the morning. During the early morning, less than 0.1 mm of drizzle is expected in South Gyeongsang and Jeju Island (excluding mountainous areas), as well as in the inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon. In the afternoon, around 5 mm of rain is forecast for Gangwon Province.

View original imageMorning lows will range from 7 to 14 degrees Celsius, and daytime highs will be between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius, which is similar to or slightly lower than the seasonal average. The expected morning lows in major cities are 10°C in Seoul, 11°C in Incheon, 9°C in Chuncheon, 14°C in Gangneung, 10°C in Daejeon, 13°C in Daegu, 11°C in Gwangju, 14°C in Busan, and 12°C in Jeju. The forecasted daytime highs are 20°C in Seoul, 20°C in Incheon, 19°C in Chuncheon, 20°C in Gangneung, 21°C in Daejeon, 21°C in Daegu, 20°C in Gwangju, 22°C in Busan, and 18°C in Jeju.

In most parts of the country, strong winds with gusts of around 55 km/h (up to 70 km/h in mountainous areas) are expected. In particular, from the early morning hours, Jeju Island may experience very strong winds with gusts over 70 km/h (up to 90 km/h in mountainous areas), and wind advisories may be issued. In the afternoon, the east coast and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province may experience gusty winds accompanied by thunder and lightning, so extra caution is advised for the management of facilities and to prevent safety accidents.
