Pyeongtaek City to Introduce AI to Manufacturing... Recruiting Trainees for Hands-On Custom Chatbot Development Program
Four-Stage Curriculum from Beginner to Advanced Runs May to October
Leverage LLM and RAG Technologies to Develop Custom AI Chatbots for Your Factory
Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced on May 7 that it is recruiting students for the "2026 Practical AI Utilization Training for Manufacturing Employees" to support the successful artificial intelligence transformation (AX) of manufacturing companies in the area.

View original imageThis training, organized by the Pyeongtaek Industry Promotion Agency in collaboration with Korea University of Technology and Education and Hankyung National University, aims to go beyond simple theoretical instruction and foster "practical talent" who can be deployed immediately in actual manufacturing settings.
Eligible participants include: ▲ Employees of manufacturing companies located in Pyeongtaek ▲ Employees of manufacturing companies outside Pyeongtaek who reside in Pyeongtaek ▲ (Prospective) entrepreneurs residing in Pyeongtaek. To ensure intensive hands-on training and smooth communication with instructors, recruitment is on a first-come, first-served basis, with 15 participants per session.
The training is divided into four stages, from beginner to advanced, tailored to participants' skill levels and corporate needs, and will run from May to October. The curriculum is as follows: ▲ STEP 1 (Beginner): Understanding and application cases of manufacturing AI ▲ STEP 2 (Basic): Manufacturing data analysis and yield optimization ▲ STEP 3 (Application): Automation of manufacturing processes and practical work ▲ STEP 4 (Advanced): Implementation of site-specialized manufacturing engineering chatbots.
In particular, considering the busy schedules of working professionals, the training is offered in 14 total sessions by stage (STEP). STEP 1 to 3 will each be held four times, and STEP 4 will be held twice. Trainees can freely choose one session per stage according to their work schedules, allowing them to mix and match sessions as needed.
The most notable feature is the intensive "STEP 4: Implementation of Site-Specialized Manufacturing Engineering Chatbots," a five-day (40-hour) advanced course. This hands-on project leverages large language model (LLM) and retrieval augmented generation (RAG) technologies—hot topics in the industry—to process actual factory documents and develop custom AI chatbots that can be immediately applied at company sites.
A Pyeongtaek City official stated, "This training will be a valuable opportunity for companies considering the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) to test its applicability in real-world environments. For companies already operating with AI, we hope it will serve as a solid foundation for further advancing on-site customized technologies by enhancing the capabilities of their employees."
