Candidate Byungwook Kim stated, "For high school students who are at the peak of academic pressure and growth, a meal plan that guarantees high-quality protein and seasonal fruit is not just about eating; it is an essential 'right to health' and 'right to learn.'" He pledged to provide 'growth meals' that are both delicious and nutritious.
In particular, he expressed his strong commitment to realizing practical welfare, saying, "Every child growing up in Seongnam, regardless of parental income, will be able to enjoy the best meals."
Regarding securing funding, he explained that Seongnam City would take the lead by increasing its budget first, and then coordinate financial responsibilities through consultations with the newly elected Gyeonggi Provincial Superintendent of Education and Governor. He also said he plans to actively review measures to gradually expand this high school meal innovation to middle schools, elementary schools, and kindergartens during his term.
