Shinhan Investment Corp. Strengthens Risk Management for Leveraged Investments
On April 17, Shinhan Investment Corp. announced that it has strengthened its risk management system for leveraged investments, focusing particularly on elderly and novice investors. This measure comes in response to the recent increase in leveraged investments, which has led to greater risk exposure for customers with insufficient investment experience.
Accordingly, Shinhan Investment Corp. has enhanced risk disclosures related to leveraged investments for elderly and beginner investors, while also systematizing its investment suitability assessment procedures. Specifically, the company has overhauled the entire process from service registration to actual trade execution. It has added warning messages about investment risks to the loan application and margin trading screens on its HTS, MTS, and web platforms to ensure clearer investor awareness of potential risks. In addition, the margin trading application forms and explanatory documents now include guidance for elderly investors, providing information tailored to investment experience, age, and trading patterns.
Shinhan Investment Corp. also plans to produce and post educational videos for novice investors on its MTS platform. These videos will offer easy-to-understand explanations of leveraged investment terminology and guidance on the associated risks. Furthermore, at its physical branches, the company will assign professional advisors dedicated to elderly investors, providing customized investment consultations based on age and circumstances. It will also strengthen post-consultation management and risk monitoring based on consultation history.
