"God's Pearl" to Be Showcased in Rendezvous Section
JungAng Group announced on April 16 that it achieved the milestone of simultaneously advancing to both the Cannes Film Festival and the Cannes International Series Festival with the movie "Hope" and the drama "God's Pearl."
"Hope," which is financed and distributed by Plus M Entertainment, has been invited to compete in the main competition section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival, with aspirations for the Palme d'Or. The film has attracted significant attention since the planning stage by assembling a cast that includes top Korean actors such as Hwang Jungmin, Zo Insung, and Jung Hoyeon, alongside Hollywood stars Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, and Taylor Russell.
Thierry Frémaux, Executive Director of the Cannes Film Festival, commented, "Throughout its over two-hour running time, the film shifts genres and tells a unique story unlike anything seen before." This marks the third time a Plus M Entertainment production has been introduced at the Cannes Film Festival, following "Hunt" (2022) and "Hopeless" (2023).
"God's Pearl," produced by SLL, will be featured in the Rendezvous section of the Canneseries non-competition program. Directed by Jung Daeyoon of "Reborn Rich" and written by Jung Hyunmin, known for "Jeong Dojeon" and "The Nokdu Flower," the drama is scheduled to air in the second half of the year. SLL previously won the Best Screenplay Award at Canneseries in 2023 for "Bargain."
