Gyeonggi Province Revamps 'Culture Pass'... 9,300 Attractions in the 'Culture Map at Your Fingertips'
Gyeonggi Province has completely revamped the 'Gyeonggi Culture Pass' app, which was introduced last year.
On April 16, Gyeonggi Province announced that it has updated the 'Gyeonggi Culture Pass' app to help residents enjoy cultural activities in their daily lives, integrating information on more than 9,300 cultural and tourism facilities in the province along with on-site participation-based mission benefits.
The Gyeonggi Culture Pass is a program launched in September 2025 to improve cultural accessibility for Gyeonggi residents. It provides discount coupons worth up to 60,000 won for cultural activities such as movies, performances, exhibitions, sports, accommodations, activities, and books.
The core of this app revamp is that, instead of the previous simple 'coupon issuance' model, such as support for admission, it has shifted to a 'participatory cultural service' that encourages residents to visit sites and experience culture firsthand.
First, the 'Nearby' feature has been significantly enhanced. When users open the app, real-time information on more than 9,300 cultural, sports, and tourism facilities in the province is displayed based on their location. Not only basic information such as movies, performances, and sports, but also unique themed travel content exclusive to Gyeonggi Province—such as industrial tourism, Gyeonggi Sea, wellness (combining healing and relaxation), and workation (combining work and vacation)—can be accessed at a glance.
In addition, a new 'Culture Program' menu has been created, gathering information about festivals, free performances, lectures, and more held in each city and county. This prevents residents from missing out on valuable local events due to fragmented information.
A 'reward system' has also been introduced to further motivate residents to participate in cultural activities. The new 'Treasure Hunting' feature is a mission where users visit designated cultural facilities, festival venues, or performance programs and verify their presence by scanning QR codes. 1,000 people who complete all five verification missions will receive an 'activity coupon' worth 10,000 won, which can be used anywhere in the country.
Additionally, the Culture Pass also issues exclusive coupons that can be used on the crowdfunding platform 'Culture Moa', supporting not only cultural and tourism activities but also participation in local projects.
Rae-Hyuk Park, Director of Culture, Sports and Tourism at Gyeonggi Province, said, "This revamp enhances features so that residents can enjoy culture within their living areas and receive tangible benefits. We will continue to expand participatory policies that broaden opportunities for cultural enjoyment in daily life."
