Lee pointed out, "Although a 'transportation first, move-in later' policy was promised for Wangsuk New Town, in reality, the area has been plagued by delays in Subway Line 9 and unresolved issues regarding the Suseok Bridge." He further stated that the transportation problems in Namyangju stem not from a lack of budget or planning, but from a lack of execution.
The five major transportation action plans announced by Lee on this day include: ▲ Timely opening of Subway Line 9 ▲ Direct six-lane connection of Suseok Bridge ▲ Extension of Line 6 from Sinnae to Deokso ▲ Extension of Line 8 from Byeollae to Cheonghak ▲ Undergrounding Deokso Station and complex development of its above-ground area.
In particular, regarding the plan to underground Deokso Station, Lee expressed his ambition, stating, "I will connect the city, which has been divided by the railroad, into one, and create commercial, cultural, and leisure spaces above ground to establish it as a future landmark for Namyangju."
Lee also presented concrete execution strategies. Upon taking office, he pledged to form a "Transportation Innovation Task Force" and to establish implementation systems for all projects within 100 days. He also promised to lay the groundwork for inclusion as national projects within one year and to initiate construction or bring about tangible changes within his term.
