Namyangju Unites Citizens Through Soccer... 20th Mayor's Cup Soccer Tournament Held Successfully
Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on April 13 that it held the opening ceremony of the 20th Namyangju Mayor's Cup Soccer Tournament and conducted the finals at the auxiliary stadium of Namyangju Sports and Culture Center on April 12.

The tournament schedule began with regional preliminaries on March 29 and continued through to the finals. A total of 32 teams and more than 2,250 participants took part, demonstrating the tournament's status as a leading recreational soccer event representing Namyangju.
The opening ceremony was attended by major guests including Mayor Joo Gwangdeok of Namyangju, members of the National Assembly, provincial and city council members, and the president of the Namyangju Football Association, who encouraged the players.
Matches on this day were held across 16 soccer fields in the city, including the auxiliary stadium of the Namyangju Sports and Culture Center. The tournament was divided into general and women’s divisions, where players demonstrated the skills they had honed, delivering high-level matches. The atmosphere was lively, with active cheering and interaction throughout the venues.
The city plans to use this tournament as an opportunity to further broaden the base of recreational sports participation. It will continue to develop a variety of recreational sports events to expand opportunities for citizens to engage in physical activities.
Mayor Joo Gwangdeok of Namyangju said, "The Mayor’s Cup Soccer Tournament is a representative recreational sports event that any citizen can enjoy together. I hope this tournament will serve as an opportunity for friendship among enthusiasts and to further strengthen our local community."
