Yangju City to Operate 'World Heritage Journey Pavilion' at Hoeamsa Site Royal Festival

Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on April 10 that it will operate the 'World Heritage Journey Pavilion' at the 9th Hoeamsa Site Royal Festival, which will be held from April 18 to 19 at the Hoeamsa site (a national historic site) and its surrounding areas. The pavilion aims to promote the World Heritage value of the Hoeamsa site.

View original imageThe World Heritage Journey Pavilion will be set up as an exhibition hall introducing the historical value and World Heritage significance of the Hoeamsa site. Various programs, including a fan signing event by Jinjumukan and a social media promotional event, will also take place.
In addition, members of the 2nd Hoeamsa Site Residents’ Council, which was commissioned in March, will participate in promotional activities such as on-site and online signature campaigns and quiz events to support the site’s bid for World Heritage inscription.
This year's festival, under the theme "History in Motion, Towards World Heritage," is organized to allow visitors to experience and understand the value of the Hoeamsa site ahead of the 48th UNESCO World Heritage Committee meeting to be held in Busan in July.

The Hoeamsa site was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List in 2022 and was selected for the National Heritage Administration’s World Heritage Priority List in 2025. The city is currently working on related procedures, aiming for World Heritage inscription in 2029.
