Orders Secured for Four LPG Carriers, Eight PC Ships, and Two LNG Carriers
Expansion of Orders Focused on High Value-Added Vessels
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries announced on April 8 that it had signed construction contracts for a total of 14 vessels worth 1.971 trillion won on April 2 and April 7.

View original imageOn April 2, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries secured orders for a total of four vessels from a Greek shipowner and an Oceania-based shipping company: two 90,000m³-class liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers and two 40,000m³-class LPG carriers. The contract values were 39.8 billion won and 239.3 billion won, respectively.
The vessels will be built by HD Hyundai Samho and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and delivered sequentially to the shipowners from 2028 through the first half of 2029. These ships will be equipped with eco-friendly dual-fuel (DF) engines to comply with stricter environmental regulations.
Additionally, the company received an order from an Asia-based shipping company for eight 50,000-ton petrochemical product carriers (PC ships), valued at 611.7 billion won. These vessels will be built by the Naval & Mid-sized Ship Business Division of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and delivered to the shipowner by the first half of 2029.
On April 7, the company secured an order from Sonangol Shipping Holding Limited for two 174,000m³-class LNG carriers valued at 770.2 billion won. These vessels will be constructed by HD Hyundai Samho and delivered to the shipowner by the second half of 2029.
LNG carriers are considered high value-added vessels and are expected to contribute to enhanced profitability.

A representative from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries stated, "Due to geopolitical risks and rising oil prices, we are seeing continued inquiries for various types of vessels, including tankers, gas carriers, and container ships," adding, "We will maximize profitability by focusing on selective orders for high value-added vessels."
