Goseong County and Muhak Group Officially Begin Construction of Goseong Culture and Arts Exhibition Hall
Full-Scale Creation of a Regional Culture and Arts Hub
Goseong County and Muhak Group held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Goseong Culture and Arts Exhibition Hall at 147-5 Giwol-ri, Goseong-eup, marking the official start of the exhibition hall's construction.
The ceremony, held on April 1, served as an important starting point for the development of regional culture and arts and for expanding opportunities for residents to enjoy culture. The event was further enriched by the participation of residents, artists, and officials.

View original imageThe Goseong Culture and Arts Exhibition Hall will be designed in harmony with the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site Songhakdong Ancient Tombs and is planned to be equipped with the latest exhibition facilities, creating a modern cultural space. Upon completion, it will support the creative activities of local artists and serve as an open cultural venue where residents can enjoy high-quality exhibitions.
More than 100 people attended the groundbreaking ceremony, including Choi Jaeho, Chairman of Muhak Group, who pledged to donate the hall once construction is complete, Goseong County officials, the Exhibition Hall Construction Promotion Committee, heads of institutions and social organizations, representatives of regional arts organizations, and local residents. Attendees expressed their expectations that the construction of the exhibition hall will enhance Goseong County's cultural stature and improve the quality of life for the local community.
This was followed by a symbolic groundbreaking performance, marking the first shovel for the exhibition hall and wishing for the successful progress of the project.
A Goseong County official stated, "The Goseong Culture and Arts Exhibition Hall will become a new landmark that embodies the identity and future of Goseong. We will do our utmost to ensure the stable construction of the hall and to contribute to the development of local culture."
In his commemorative address, Choi Jaeho, Chairman of Muhak Group, said, "I used to visit Goseong often in my childhood because my grandfather lived here, so I have many fond memories. Honoring the wishes of my late father, Honorary Chairman Choi Wi-seung of Muhak, it is especially meaningful to be able to start construction of this exhibition hall, which will share a love for culture, the arts, and Goseong itself. I am delighted to present a beautiful exhibition hall designed around the world heritage Songhakdong Ancient Tombs, and I hope Goseong continues to develop in the future."

The Goseong Culture and Arts Exhibition Hall will be donated to Goseong County by Muhak Group upon completion and will be operated as a space for various exhibitions and cultural events. The hall will be constructed as a three-story building with a total floor area of approximately 2,934 square meters, with completion targeted for the first half of 2027.
