Mokpo City to Provide Entrance Congratulatory Funds for Elementary School Students
100,000 Won Provided to All New Students
Mokpo City in South Jeolla Province will provide entrance congratulatory funds to elementary school students in order to realize universal educational welfare and reduce the financial burden on parents.
The city announced that it will provide 100,000 won per person as an entrance congratulatory fund to first-time elementary school students for the 2026 academic year.
The eligible recipients are all new elementary school students who are registered residents of Mokpo as of the date of admission, regardless of household income. Applications can be submitted from March 30 to November 30, and guardians must visit the local administrative welfare center corresponding to their address to apply.
After a qualification verification process, the congratulatory fund will be provided via the Mokpo Sarang Gift Certificate card, a local currency card, and can be used until the end of this year. To prevent eligible students from being missed, Mokpo City is sending notifications to each school and conducting promotional activities such as putting up banners and using social media.
A city official said, "We hope that the entrance congratulatory fund will help realize educational welfare and ease the educational expenses burden on parents," adding, "We will continue to provide various support to create an educational environment where children can grow up happily."
