Education Office, Busan City, and University Collaborate
to Promote Regionally-Tailored Education and Care Models

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education has taken steps to strengthen the local cooperation system in order to enhance the quality of public early childhood education. The office announced that it has held a series of working-level council meetings and project briefing sessions to increase the execution capability of the "Community-Based Early Childhood Education and Care Innovation Support Project," which is being promoted together with Busan City and Busan Gyeongsang University.

The "Community-Based Early Childhood Education and Care Innovation Support Project" aims to make Busan a better place for raising and educating children by operating kindergarten curricula that reflect local characteristics and providing high-quality after-school and care services. Since 2024, local educational communities have been working together to push the project forward.

On the morning of March 19, the Office of Education held a working-level council meeting at Busan Gyeongsang University, attended by representatives from the three organizations. The meeting aimed to further strengthen the cooperation system built so far and to discuss strategies for reinforcing tailored public early childhood education in the region. In particular, participants exchanged in-depth opinions on the operation of distinctive educational programs and strategies for expanding them at the field level.

Later that afternoon, a project briefing session was held at the Education Research and Information Center in Busanjin-gu for kindergarten staff members. The session shared the operational direction for the "BTS (Busan Theme System) Busan Theme-Based Curriculum" and the "HuG (Human-diGital) After-School Program (Care Service)."

The "BTS Busan Theme-Based Curriculum" is currently being implemented at five public kindergartens selected through a public contest, focusing on building educational models that incorporate both local distinctiveness and each kindergarten’s unique characteristics. The "HuG After-School Program" is being run at ten private kindergartens that can collaborate with childcare centers, aiming to establish a tailored care system that fosters both the emotional stability and future capabilities of young children.

Superintendent Seokjun Kim stated, "These council and briefing sessions will serve as an opportunity to increase field-level understanding and strengthen project execution. We will continue to expand Busan-style early childhood education policies that can enhance children’s growth and build trust among parents."

Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is holding practical consultations to strengthen the execution of the "Community-Based Early Childhood Education and Care Innovation Support Project," which is being promoted together with Busan City and Busan Gyeongsang College.
