Introducing "Park Inhwan Park" on a 26,000-Square-Meter Site
Unused Urban Land Returned to County Residents
Inje County, Gangwon Province, is accelerating efforts to improve the urban environment and enhance the quality of life for residents by transforming unused urban land into a multi-purpose living space.
The county announced that it has officially begun construction on "Park Inhwan Park," which is being developed in the Nambuk-ri area of Inje-eup, with the goal of completing the project by August 2026.
This project utilizes idle land in the 816 Nambuk-ri area, which became available after the relocation of the existing Agricultural Technology Center and Agricultural Machinery Rental Office.
The aim is to transform the secured urban site into a green-centered, lifestyle-oriented park, thereby creating a space where people can enjoy nature and relaxation in their daily lives.
Park Inhwan Park, with a total project cost of 8 billion won (3.2 billion won from the national budget), will be developed on a site of approximately 26,000 square meters. It is planned as a complex cultural space that encompasses relaxation, leisure, and sports functions.
Notably, the park is attracting attention for being designed as a stay-type space that incorporates various user needs, going beyond the simple creation of green areas.
At the heart of the park, a central lawn plaza of about 15,000 square meters will be established.
This open space will be freely accessible to all county residents and will serve as an urban venue for walking, relaxation, various events, and community activities.
Water-friendly facilities designed for summer use will also be created.
With a 2,600-square-meter water play area, fountains, and foot bath facilities, the park will offer an environment where families can stay and enjoy themselves.
This space is expected to be highly utilized as it allows people to experience both water and relaxation within the city.
The infrastructure for daily sports activities will also be strengthened. Two covered futsal fields, each covering about 2,967 square meters, will be built, providing sports facilities that can be used regardless of weather conditions.
This is expected to help expand the foundation for residents' regular sports activities.
In addition, the county plans to improve walkways throughout the park and install convenience facilities such as public restrooms and a 52-meter-long sitting wall to enhance user convenience and accessibility.
The county expects that the creation of this park will bring substantial changes to the urban environment and residential conditions, going beyond merely expanding green spaces within the city.
In particular, the central lawn plaza and water-friendly facilities are expected to attract not only local residents but also visitors to Inje.
Furthermore, the inclusion of "Park Inhwan" in the park's name reflects the region's cultural symbolism, indicating the potential for future use of the space in connection with cultural content.
