Gathering Opinions from the Art Industry
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on March 13 that it will hold a roundtable discussion at Agora on the 6th floor of Art Korea Lab in Jongno-gu, Seoul, to prepare subordinate statutes for the Art Promotion Act.
The roundtable will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the same day. The agenda includes an explanation of the draft subordinate statutes of the Art Promotion Act, collection of on-site opinions, sharing of the future schedule, and closing.
This roundtable has been organized to ensure the stable implementation of the "art service business reporting system," which will be newly introduced in July this year under the Art Promotion Act enacted in July 2023.
At the meeting, the Ministry will share the progress on the preparation of subordinate statutes, including the proposed revision of the Enforcement Decree of the Art Promotion Act and the draft of the Enforcement Rules. The Ministry will also explain major topics such as the proposed notifications for artwork appraisal certificates and certificates of authenticity.
In addition, the Ministry plans to gather a wide range of opinions from art industry professionals, experts in related fields, and members of the public interested in art policy. Anyone, including stakeholders in the art industry, related experts, and the general public, may participate in the roundtable.
Jung Hyangmi, Policy Chief for Culture and Arts at the Ministry, stated, "Listening to voices from the field is more important than anything else for the Art Promotion Act to take firm root in the art sector," adding, "We will actively collect the diverse opinions raised at this roundtable to develop reasonable subordinate statutes and establish a foundation for the growth of the art market."
