Seo District has selected and is currently operating 50 Food Safety Keepers through an open recruitment process. The Food Safety Keepers, who are consumer food hygiene inspectors consisting of dietitians, food technologists, and engineers, will, starting in April, carry out hygiene and cooking environment inspections, on-site hygiene education, and customized hygiene management consulting for restaurants, convenience stores, and other establishments in the district under the slogan "No Poor Hygiene, Yes to Resident Health." Their activities are aimed at raising the level of hygiene management among business operators and preventing food safety incidents such as food poisoning.
In particular, reflecting the increase in single-person households and changing consumer trends, Seo District plans to strengthen its hygiene management consulting for small neighborhood restaurants. The district will also focus on inspecting food safety blind spots in multi-use facilities such as comic cafes and pet cafes, as well as unmanned food stores and convenience stores.
At the launch ceremony, attended by Seo District Mayor Kim Ikang and about 50 Food Safety Keepers, participants pledged their commitment to the initiative and enhanced their on-site response capabilities by learning about hygiene consulting methods for each business type and studying frequent violations.
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo District, stated, "Food safety is a crucial factor directly linked to the health of our residents," and added, "We will continue to work to create a dining environment where residents can feel safe through the activities of the Food Safety Keepers."
